Suicide Dream is an innovative melodic metal band with a broad appeal. The band blends styles as diverse as goth, thrash, doom, speed, ambient, progressive, and power metal with their own innovations, creating a completely new and original approach. Although one can hear traces of everything from early Metallica to Type O Negative in their music, the overall sound is a unique style of dark melodic metal.
The band began touring regularly in November of 2002 across CT, MA, RI, NY, and ME. They played over seventy shows between August of 2003 and May 2004, including a slot on the Main Stage of The 2004 Mayday Metalfest in Indiana, and an appearance with international recording artists Moonspell in New York City. During that period, this website received over a thousand new visitors a month, an amazing feat for an unsigned metal band. Suicide Dream went on to play with legendary Ex-Dokken guitarist George Lynch that October, and performed in front of over one thousand people at a show with Poison frontman Bret Michaels in November. In 2005, the band played with Entombed, Overkill, Krokus, Crowbar, LA Guns, Exodus, Pro-Pain, and on a second occasion with Bret Michaels. It should be noted that all of this has been accomplished entirely without management or booking agents.
Venues that the band has performed at include The Webster Theatre (Hartford, CT), L'Amour (Brooklyn, NY), The Roxy (Norwalk, CT), The Middle East (Boston, MA), and Northern Lights Live (Clifton Park, NY). For a full list of dates/venues, click here.
Suicide Dream recorded a self-produced demo in 2003 which immediately garnered interest from Sony Records, Screaming Ferret Records, Oak Knoll Records, and an executive who offered to shop it around to RCA, Virgin, and several other majors.
The first single off of the demo, "Return", was voted #1 on undergroundrecords.com's Top 100 for several weeks, and has also received heavy airplay on 90.1 WECS. In addition, the song was voted both First and Second Round Winner when entered into the Rock Solid Pressure contest by Sony Records. (MP3's are on the front page)
